Director - Robert Rodriguez
Year - (1998)

I've decided that I'm going to try to extend my reviews a bit. It appears that many of my reviews are seemingly cut short which doesn't give the reader a satisfying feeling after reading them. So here it goes.

"The Faculty" is a teen driven version of "Invasion of the Bodysnatchers". It takes some of the same elements but translates it to what we film buffs are used to. Don't get me wrong, much credit still goes to "Invasion of the Bodysnatchers" as it still is and always will be a classic.

When some eerie things begin taking place at Herrington High School, this confirms the student's greatest suspicion: their teachers are from another planet!

Now the students must come together and set aside their prejudices in order to save the world from alien domination!

What was interesting about this film is the charater development. It was well done. We got to see each characters personality whether they were main characters or sides. The jocks, nerds, stoners, loners, and cheerleaders (aside from all of the cutting classes and students walking around) makes you believe this is taking place in a real high school.

The alien effects were superior! I read the credits and who the creature effects person was, and his name didn't ring a bell.

The humor was good. Kevin Wiliamson is always good at throwing good humor into his scripts, and this alone is one element that makes the film more unpredicatble and entertaining.

I also loved the fact that an illegal drug was the alien's only weakness! Clever absolutley clever! Makes you wonder if Kevin was into drugs as a teen.

Once again Kevin Williamson delivers a script with a teen cast. What's new? I do enjoy watching his work, however.

Like I said, the cast sizzles with hott upcoming stars such as Josh Hartnett, Jordana Brewster, and Elijah Wood. It's always entertaining to see someone as feisty as Jordana Brewster portraying an alien.

Along the lines of "Scream", "The Faculty is clever, hip, and entertaining. If your trying to decide what good film to watch, make "The Faculty" a first pick.
