Director - Takashi Shimizu
Year - (2004)

The scariest part of the film isn't what you can see, but it's what you don't see that will scare the daylight out of you!

The Grudge is the curse of one who dies in the grip of a powerfulrage. Those who encounter this murderous supernatural curse die and a new one is born, passed from victim to victim in an endless, growing chain of horror.

Great premise, eh? That's not to say the least. The Grudge has been said to be a rip-off of 2002's "The Ring". There's a somewhat truth to that, but not anything to lose your balls over. Yes, they are both remakes of previous Japenese films, but that's about all they have in common. Now that we've hopefully cleared that issue up, let's get back to the film.

I don't think I've ever been more scared at a PG-13 film in my life. The Grudge raises some serious goosebumps. Takashi Shimizu does an incredible job with collaberating elements of common things that scare us, and combining them to create the ultimate thrillride!

The Grudge has a lineup of an all-star casts who's performances make the film look and seem believable. Not only that, The Grudge kind of reminded me of a chain letter, and for this reason, it made the film seem more realistic. The directing is excellent. I find it fasinating that the same director of the original Japense version of The Grudge directed the remake as well. Takashi Shimizu is the first director to ever do so.

The scenery in the film is just plain creepy. We are in an environment that is not familiar to most of us, so it gives us a feeling of the unknown.

The only complaint that I have about the film is that it didn't run long enough. I was so tied up in the film that I didn't want it to end.

The Grudge is a must-see and will definetly raise some serious goosebumps October 22nd!
